Training Lab™FAQs
Some of the most frequently asked questions are answered below. If you do not see the answer to your question here, you will probably
find the answer in the manual or you can call us at 1-800-634-1936 and we will be happy to answer your question for you.
My system will not boot up, what is the problem?
Make sure the surge protector is plugged into a good outlet and the switch is in the "on" position. Next check and make sure the power cord
for the CPU is plugged into both the surge protector and the CPU. Some CPUs have a master power switch located next to where the power
cord plugs into the CPU. Make sure this switch is in the "on" position as well.
Why don't I see an image on the projection screen?
First, check to make sure that your projector is not in "standby" mode. You can get it out of "standby" by pressing the ON button either with the remote or on the projector itself.
If this does not work, make sure the input on the projector is set to "computer". Again, you can do this by pressing the "input" button on the
projector or on the remote and toggling through the input options until it reads "computer".
I shot the bad guy in the scenario and he did not fall, why is that?
It might be that the target zone on that particular bad guy required multiple shots. One or two rounds might not be enough to knock him down.
Alternatively, some target zones are drawn "tight" by design, and may require a little better shot. All of this is done in order to reflect reality.
Also, keep in mind that the graphic displayed on the Debrief screen is actually much, much larger than an actual bullet.
It is the center point of this graphic that denotes the placement of the shot, so just because the graphic is touching the bad guy, it doesn't
necessarily mean that the shot hit him. Run the scenario again, and make sure you have multiple shots with good placement.
My system is not detecting a device, what should I do?
First, check and/or replace the batteries in the device. This will solve the problem in the vast majority of the cases. If this does not solve the problem or if you know the batteries are good,
re-calibrate the system.
I can zero my device with the system, but when I run a scenario, that device does not register. What is wrong?
Actually, nothing is wrong. If, for example, you have zeroed a Device #2 firearm, but the device assignment is set to Device #1, the system
will allow you to zero the gun. However, when the scenario starts, you will be firing a Device #2 firearm and the system will ignore it because
it was assigned as a Device #1. The system is designed to ignore devices that are not assigned (in this example the Device #2 was never
assigned). Double check the device assignment by right clicking on the icon for that device and selecting the appropriate number.
Why am I seeing the instructor monitor on the projection screen and the projected image on the instructor monitor?
Probably because the VGA cables on are swapped where they connect to the video card on the back of the CPU. Make sure the VGA cable
from the projector is connected to the VGA to DVI adapter and then connected to the DVI port on the video card and that the VGA cable
from the monitor is connected to the VGA port on the video card.
My instructor monitor and/or the projection screen don't appear to be the right size, what is wrong?
The resolution settings have been changed. To fix this, right click on the windows desktop. A text box will appear, select "Properties".
This will open the "Display Properties" box. Select the "Settings" tab. Click on the Number 1 monitor and adjust the slider to "1024 by 1280"
then click on the Number 2 Monitor and adjust the slider to "1280 by 720". Click "Apply".
What size room do I need to set up the Training Lab™ system?
A minimum of a 15' x 20' room is recommended. This allows the projector to project a full size image on a 12' wide screen (usually by placing the projector approximately 17' from the screen)
while still allowing enough room for realistic movement from your trainees.
Why am I getting random shots on the system?
This happens when the system sees Infrared light from a source other than the devices. Check to make sure that there is no sunlight in your training room and that there are not incandescent lights on.
Also, double check and make sure that your IR filter is in place on your hit detection camera.
Can I load other software (programs) on my Training Lab™ system?
While it is possible to do this, it is strongly discouraged . There is no way to know how particular software will affect system performance. Loading third party software that is not approved by
Ti Training Corp. can void your warranty. Please contact us before doing so.
